An Odd Post, But Someone Needs To Hear This...

October 18, 2013
Well, I made a BIG mistake this week. I have been thinkin' about submission a lot, and so decided to do some research on all aspects of the term.

...and I mean ALL aspects of the term.

Which means I ended up on some really hinky websites.

REALLY hinky.

I found my self just starin' at this stuff--I couldn't believe what these folks call submission. I read blogs by folks, mostly women, who enjoy bein' 'owned' and beaten on, and, and, just...

That is not submission--that is degradation. That is just NOT what submission is about, people.

Yes, God calls us to submit to Him. He also calls wives to submit to our husbands, children to submit to parents, and all of us to submit to authority. He calls for humility--NOT humiliation.

The difference between humilty and humiliation is simple. Humility builds up the worth of the person bein' humble. Humilitation destroys the worth of a human being through bein' mistreated by another.

In a Easton’s 1897 Bible Dictionary defines “humility” as: a prominent Christian grace. It is a state of mind well pleasing to God; it preserves the soul in tranquility and makes us patient under trials

True humility--not false modesty, is what we gain as we grow in grace and wisdom, through prayer and Bible study, and by applyin' what we learn. It's basically the opposite of pride.

Here are a few verses about humilty;

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Psalms 25:9 He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Philippians 2:5-8 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
2 Corinthians 10:1 (Paul) I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!—
Psalms 149: 4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.

There are scriptures about humiliation, also, and usually, that is caused by stubborn hearts and pride in folks who refuse to submit to God's love and leadin'.
Matthew 23:12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (NIV)
Proverbs 15:31-33 If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise. If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding. Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor. (NLT)

Proverbs 16:18-19 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. (NIV)

Honestly, I have NO IDEA why I am sharin' this with ya'll. I just know that someone out there needs to know that they are not trash, and that they deserve to be loved and cherished. Don't let ANYONE tell you that you have to be treated like dirt in order for them to love you--that is a  lie from hell. You are a precious human being, and you can know that because God loved you so much, that He became flesh and blood and dwelt among us, to show us what true love is.

He died on a cross for YOUR screwups. He took YOUR humiliation when He was beaten, spit upon and mocked. He wants YOU to come to Him and be with Him for ALL ETERNITY.

THAT is how valuable you are--and that thought should bring you to humility.

You wanna see what true submission is all about? Submit to God's call on your life, and walk away from the past. No, it ain't gonna be all unicorns and rainbows--but it will be PEACE, and HOPE.

Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.
