One More Christmas To Go--Homemakin' Binder

Decmber 28, 1012

We have enjoyed another Christmas, and will be havin' one more this Sunday, as the Redneck's family gathers together in a combo Christmas/family reunion. There will be food, fellowship, and of course, a crazy gift swap. We will catch up with folks we haven't seen in a long time, and I am lookin' forward to the event.

I'm still tryin' to figure out what dish to take, but I have a day to do that.

Today I have cleaned mom-in-law's house, and as soon as the sheets are done dryin', I'll make the beds and then my little family will runs errands to the feed store, post office, etc. We have a great treat this afternoon--we are all gettin' to see the chiropractor. We decided we want to begin the New Year as *ahem*...

...'well-adjusted' people!

(yes, I KNOW it was a dumb joke--but it's FUNNY)

I have been hangin' put at Joyful Christian Homemaking ( lately, and I have downloaded her wonderful free E-book on homemaking. I have decided I am goin' to use the advice on makin' and usin' a homemakin' binder. I got a gift card, so I used it to but the stuff for the inside of the binder. I already had a binder that I have had for years, but never knew what to use it for. It is fabrice covered, and it has wolves all over it. In the homemakin' guide, Candy says that we are not to work on the inside until the outside makes us smile. Well, folks, there are few things that make me smile like wolves, so I'm good.

In the binder, you put sections for schedulin', menus, homeschoolin' etc. I have adjusted it so I have sections for schedules, menus, my son, the Redneck, and other stuff that personalizes it for my home.

I'm workin' on a master schedule right now, and it's really pretty simple. However, I have to have TWO of them--one for when it's just my son and me, and one for when my husband is off work.

Obie's section will include all of the developmental exercises we do, books we are readin', and any homework for the new youth program he will be doin' at church. The Redneck's will include any requests that he makes for me to attend to while he's away on his job, and ideas for special meals while he is home.

My personal goal section will include not only my goals, but also plans to accomplish them.

I'm workin' on my goals for next year, and I think I may share some of them with ya'll later.

The sheets should be dry by now.

Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.

Merry Christmas--Prayer Answered

December 25, 2012

Yes, I said CHRIST. You know--the REAL reason for this season?

I pray that all of ya'll out there on the internet are havin' a happy, blessed and just all around SPLENDIFEROUS Christmas.

We had our prayers answered--we DON'T HAVE TO MOOOOOVE!!!!!!!!!!

The sale of the land didn't happen, and so for a time at least, we are stayin' in our little cowboy cottage. In fact, we may even be BUYIN' it, if the Lord is willin', and things keep goin' in the way they are.

We are officially UNPACKED, and the house has been put back to rights. It is so nice to have things where I can get to them, instead of havin' to dig through a box if I need somethin'.

My son got to go to his dad's for the holiday, so the Redneck and I are by ourselves, We are enjoyin' a quiet day, watchin' movies on one of our Christmas gifts--A BIG SCREEN TV!

Don't get too excited--it's a used one. A fellow was buyin' a new one, so he gave the old one to us--but it's STILL REALLY COOL!

We are watchin' all our action movies--and it's really neat to see stuff blow up on a 36 inch screen.

I'm so thankful for all the blessin's God has given us--but most of all for the gift of Jesus, the Messiah. This day is really just a commemoration of an event that know no really knows when it happened.

I have heard it said that the world digs Christmas, because a baby in a manger is non-threatenin', while the action of a man--no, actually GOD HIMSELF--dyin' on a cross is very threatenin'. That act of ultimate love scares the bejeebers outta the world, because it shows them that they are in NEED of salvation, and most of the world doesn't wanna believe that. They wanna go on thinkin' that they can handle all thier own problems, and that no outside help is necessary...

...but it is.

John 3:16.

I love all ya'll--Merry Christmas.

Wild Weekend Over--Cough Syrup Recipe--Memory Of Childhood

December 17, 2012

Well, "my all by myself" weekend is over, and while I enjoyed it greatly--I was glad to have Obie come home last night, and I will be giddy when the Redneck gets back this weekend. My guys may drive me nuts at times--but I love them and am grateful when they are home.

I got back from the wifi hot spot around 1 a.m. Saturday mornin', and I just slept in the livin' room, 'causa ir was cold and it would be easier to heat just the one room than the livin' room and the bedroom. A bonus--it's easier to watch DVDs when ya sleep in the livin' room!

Saturday I ran errands, made up goodies for the church Christmas party, and rented more DVDs to watch. At the party that night, I discovered the most wonderful food in the world...

...CANDIED JALAPENOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These things are FABULOUS! I could have eaten the entire jar, but I held back. I got the name of the brand, and will be lookin' for them at the store here in town. When we were cleanin' up after the party, the woman who brought them handed me the rest of the jar to take home. Apparently she has a case of them at home, and she saw how much I liked them.

I got home, and while I watched VANTAGE POINT--I finished the jar! I even drank the juice! I'm tellin' ya--they are that good!

Sunday was the children's Christmas play at church, and it was precious. All the kids, youth and itty bitty, did thier best to bring the meanin' of Christmas to the folks in attendance. After church, a friend kidnapped me to go out to lunch.

As I said, I was glad to have my alone time, but I was very happy to see Obie and his dad drive up last night.

Oh--check out DEEP ROOTS AT HOME ( She has posted a cough syrup recipe that is really good. I'm gonna make it up for my family this year.

I had to laugh when I saw it, though, because it reminded me of when I was a little girl, and the cough 'medicine' that my family made. They would take a Mason jar, fill it as full as possible with crushed peppermint candy, then they would pour whiskey over that and shake it each day until it dissolved. THAT was our cough syrup.  It worked, too, 'cause it tasted so bad--you learned how to suppress ANY coughs you might be feelin', 'cause you DIDN'T WANNA TAKE THAT STUFF!

Well, I got chore. Later ya'll.

Y-A-W-N--Decoden Craft--And Settin' Goals

December 15, 2012

Goodness--I have been here for over FIVE HOURS tonight! Our local wifi hot spot is open 24 hours a day, and I came up as soon as my son went to his father's for the weekend. With the Redneck workin' outta town till next weekend, I decided to just come and play on the internet as long as I wanted.  I've done a lot of research, downloaded several e-books to read later, and got a good start on watchin' the newer version of VAMPIRE HUNTER D ( I love to watch japanimation).

I also learned about a craft called DECODEN. It's a craft that I think came from Japan. You use silicon from a tube to make a base to put small items (toys, buttons, charms, etc), ad it looks really cool. I think I'm gonn try it this week, and my idea is to create a purse out of a wooden cigar box and western themed charms, conchos--stuff like that. I think I'll make the handle from a length of chain from the hardware store, and the fastener will be a western style belt I have that no one wears. You know--use the buckle and belt to fasten it.

You can find a lot about this craft on YOUTUBE.COM.

Honestly--I SHOULD be goin' home soon, 'cause even if I stay up all night--my critters are STILL gonna expect to be fed in the mornin' er--LATER this mornin', and I still have to bake and get other goodies made for the church Christmas party at 7 p.m.

But honestly--I'm havin' a lot of fun, and who KNOWS when I'll get another chance to just PLAY, with no one at home needin' me.

Talked to the Redneck last night--he is likin' the new job okay--but he hates bein' away from us here at home. We miss him too, but this ain't our first rodeo with bein' apart due to work, so we know that we just need to hang in there for a time, and we will be back together soon.

Our preacher at cowboy church has been teachin' a lot about the church as a whole workin' towards a goal of growin' in Jesus this comin' year. I find it funny that our family has been thinkin' along the same lines. We are talkin' about findin' a good Bible study for couples, and the church is beginnin' a youth study program that Obie will be able to attend.

As this year draws to a close--may I suggest that we all take a look at how this year has developed, nd where we are compared to last year? I don't mean to make RESOLUTIONS--those are dumb. Instead, get into the Word of God and find out what GOALS you can work towards accomplishin' in 2013. If you set  resolution nd you don't start doin' it right off the bat--you feel like a failure. However, if you make a goal and work towards it--even if you don't reach it by this time next year--you are still movin' forward in the right direction!

Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.

New Friend--New Link

December 14, 2012

Yesterday while on our walk, my son and I met a very exceptional young man named Jessie. We talked for a time, and he told me about how his girlfriend Holly was goin' through physical rehabilitation after a terrible accident. I saw photos of the car she had been in, and I'm honestly amazed that she survived. I promised that I would post this link and add it to my blog's link list.

It is a site that tells not only of the wreck itself, but of this brave young woman's struggle to return to health. You can track her progress, make donations to assist her recovery, and learn of benefits and other events that are goin' on to help. Please check it out, and keep this remarkable person and her loved ones in your prayers.

Redneck Go Bye Bye For A Time, And Wild Weekend Ahead!

December 11, 2012

My beautiful Redneck left around 7 a.m. this mornin' to drive to his new job. He will be gone about 11 days, then home for the Christmas holidays, and then back down after the New Year. If all gowes well, he will be comin' back up here to work durin' the day around the end of January.

Yes, I do miss him already, but this is something we decided as a family was the best thing for him to do at this time. And besides, it will give me a chance to catch up on several projects that I've had to pass up while he was home durin' the day.

This Friday night, my son goes to his dad's for the weekend, which means I will have a whole weekend to myself. I gotta tell ya, folks, I have a WILD WEEKEND planned...

...First--as soon as Obie leaves, I'm headin' to the local 24 hour wifi hotspot, and I intend to play on the computer till I just can't STAND it anymore. I may not get home until the mornin' light. Mom-in-law once asked me, "What do you DO there for FIVE HOURS?"

I enjoy myself immensely. Between doin' all my research, emailin', YOUTUBIN', and just watchin' all the people who come and go--I have a BALL.

Next, I have a Church Christmas party, and we all know how crazy those can get, especially with a white elephant exchange.

Sunday I have church and the children's Christmas play. In between all that excitement--I have big plans to clean out the fridge, soak in a hot bath with a good book, and naps--LOTS of naps.

Whooo HOOO!!!!!!! I am a wild woman when I'm on my own!

I think the best thing about this job change, ironically, is the fact that we are no longer on a second shift--which we had been WANTIN' to be on. We had not realized just how much our lives as a family had changed over the years, and that havin' a day-oriented schedule was much better for us all. I honestly never thought I would MISS gettin' up at 3:45 in the mornin', but I did. Now I have time to have Bible readin', prayer and devotionals before gettin' my son up and tacklin' the day.

It makes a DIFFERENCE, folks, if ya begin your day with God, BELIEVE ME.

Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.

Prayers Answered!

December 7, 2012

Oh boy, talk about prayer bein' ANSWERED!

When I asked ya'll and others to pray for us to have wisdom--I had no idea what would happen. I just thought we would take time to think about this new job, look at the pros and cons, etc.

As it turned out, when we listed the pros and cons about the Redneck takin' this new job, they were about equal, so it looked as if it would simply be a lateral move to change jobs. But then, we got to ask a lot of questions of the man who has arranged the job and...

The cons sorta began to dissolve before our eyes.

As a result--the Redneck has resigned the job he had, and startin' Tuesday, he will begin his new job. It's gonna be a little hard at first, 'cause he will be away from home for a few weeks (but home at Christmas--YAY!), and then he should be back up here workin' at home.

Thanks to all of ya'll who took the time to pray for us. Please keep prayin' about a place to move to.

Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.

Request For Wisdom--So What Else Is New?

December 6, 2012

Again I find myself askin' for prayer from my readers. Another job offer has come up for the Redneck, and it could be wonderful or awful, dependin' on how things might work out.

(Hmm..sounds a lot like plain ol' LIFE to me...)

Okay--here is what we are askin' ya'll to pray about--

That's it.

Just wisdom.

James 1:5 says;

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

We are askin' of God for the wisdom to make a big decision about this job. If he takes it, it will be a big lifestyle change for our family (like you haven't heard THAT before). If he keeps it, things will stay the same for a time at least, until he finds the right job. No matter what--we want GOD'S BEST for our family, not just what we think would be good.

Something we have noticed the past few months--God keeps changin' things up in our lives at a fast pace--scary fast, in fact. Every time we think we have our breath--He changes things up again.

Honestly, I think He is just givin' us the chance to TRULY trust Him, by keepin' us off balance. I think this is a time of testin' that is gonna PRUNE and TAKE AWAY (see previous post)a lot more stuff we don't need .

Well, I got prayers. Later ya'll.

Still Waitin'--Prunin'

December 4, 2012

Still no news about a place to move to, and, the sale of the land we live on may be canceled, so we may not have to move now anyway. I dunno what's goin' on--all I know is God is teachin' our family about waitin' on Him and trustin' in Him and His plans for us.

Last night I watched FACING THE GIANTS again, 'cause I had the feelin' that I was needin' to learn somethin'. If you have never seen this film by the Kendricks, who also made FIREPROOF and COURAGEOUS--you should really check it out. They make excellent faith based movies.

As I watched it, I began to see a theme that has been goin' around in my head for a while now. In the song I WILL PRAISE YOU IN THE STORM, the singer speaks about praisin' the God Who gives--and takes away. Job speaks of how The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord. In GIANTS, one of the sub plots is, Even if God doesn't give you what you want--WILL YOU LOVE HIM ANYWAY? Will you praise Him when you lose, just as you praise Him when you win?

See, this is an aspect of God that we as Christians just don't like to think about. Sure, we LOVE to talk about how good He is because He gives, and gives and gives and gives....

...and then He gives even more.

But what about the times He takes away?

Do we still believe He is good, lovin' and wonderful? Do we praise Him even when we feel He is not doin' what WE think is the best thing in any situation?

Well, DO WE?

I confess--He has been so good and givin' to me in my life, even at the WORST times if I am honest, that when He does decide it is time to refuse to give me what I want, or worse, TAKE AWAY somethin'--

--I sorta flip out at times.

I mean, I can't get my head wrapped around the fact that God would REFUSE me somethin'. And yet, John 15:1-2 says,

"I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes, so that it will be even more fruitful."

Sounds like takin' away to me.

While researchin' this idea, I came across a few posts that don't really agree with me on this. Instead, they say that the devil takes things away from us. I agree that is true, since Jesus says that satan comes to steal and destroy.

But read the above verse again. Notice that He says branches that bear fruit are PRUNED. Prunin' is a form of takin' away.

Have you ever seen a grapevine that has been pruned? It ain't pretty. In fact, you wonder if some nut with a chainsaw  has been let loose in the vineyard.

And yet, when you see the results the followin' season...'s amazin' how much GROWTH has taken place. How much more FRUIT has appeared on those branches.

I think that God does this to us as believers when it is needed. I think He see that we are bearin' fruit, and it may be really nice fruit. However, He wants us to bear the BIGGEST, SWEETEST, MOST ABUNDANT FRUIT possible. So...

He prunes.

And it hurts.

We HATE it.

We pitch hissy fits, cry, rage, and just pout.

And yet, after we are done bein' childish, and we actually LOOK at what is goin' on durin' all the mess, we see that growth is happenin' in us.

Now I got a question for ya.

Even if He doesn't give you what ya want, even if He takes AWAY--

Will you love Him anyway?

Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.
