Happy to report that The Redneck is much improved in his feet--he actually walks like a human now.
I have just seen a wonderful movie, starrin' seven of my favorite British actors, includin' Dame Judi Dench and Bill Nighy.
In THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL FOR THE ELDERLY AND BEAUTIFUL, seven aged Britons travel to India to reside in what, accordin' to the brochures SEEMS to be a luxury hotel.
Alas, it is not as divine as they would like. However, as they continue their stay, the hotel, staff and the country itself begins to charm them all in different ways.
This is not a family oriented film, as it deals with several subjects that would be considered 'dodgy'. And yet, it is a wonderfully told tale, involvin' many aspects of aging and the way that some folks deal with it.
Dame Judi and Bill Nighy are particularly delightful in their characters. Nighy plays a man who has never been able to find the right END of the hammer, let alone know how to USE it, and Dame Judi is remarkable as a woman whose husband of 40 years has recently passed on, leavin' her to deal with the fact that he had run up a massive mount of debt.
An added bonus is young Dev Patel, of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, as the hotel's manager. He is so funny, both with his line delivery and his physical presence.
And if you liked Maggie Smith of the HARRY POTER films--you will ADORE her character in this movie.
Altogether, THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD is a feast for the eyes, and a boost to the spirit.
I give it a five ratin' for the cast alone, and the cinematography is lush with the colors of India.
Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.
