More Prayer Updates

August 30, 2012

Well, it's getting interesting. My freind is still 'laying low', as she has been instructed, waiting for her attornely to let her know when to surrender herself to the police.

The funny thing is, her attorney got a call from the policeman in charge, and he said that he just cannot understand why the warrant has still NOT been processed!

We know, right campers?

Yup, simple prayers, from all over the country and around the world, on behalf of this family.

As a result, more and more people are able to come forward and present facts pertinet to the situation, and my friend is gaining more and more ground in this case. It is also giving her attorney the chance to work on the case, so she can prevent the boys from being handed over to their abuser.

Please believe me when I say that I thank everyone who is praying, from the bottom of my heart.

I will continue to see my friend through this, and after it is resolved, no matter the outcome, I will be stepping back from posting for a time, just taking a short sabbatical. It is getting to that time of year when we are involved in many different ministry activities, and I need to rest a while and regroup spiritually. I also want to give the majority of my time to my family, and spend more time with God.

I'll keep you all posted with updates, and thank you so much for your prayers!

Prayer Request Update

August 25, 2012

I just spoke with my freind, and first I want to say that she says thank you for any and all prayers that have been offered on her and her sons behalf during thuis crisis.

As it stands, she and the boys will arrive at their home airport around midnight tongiht, and the police have advised her attornely to have her 'lay low' until Monday morning, when she will be allowed to go to the station and turn herself in. The arrest warrant is ready and waiting, according tot he police. If she has the bail money, she can be processed and released the same day. If not, she will be retained untilt he trial. And in the meantime, if she stays in jail--the boys will be with their abuser.

I am asking for continued prayer in this situation. There are several weird things happening here, one of which is that the police are refusing to take any calls from the family doctor who has stated that the children should NOT be in their father's company, since he is not only sexually abusive, but also physically and emotionally abusive. I think they are afraid that if they actually HEAR what he has to say and they still allow these boys to go with the father--they will be held responsible if something happens to them.

There are others in the domestic abuse protection system who are trying to get the message to the police in this town that the mother is right in her actions to protect her sons.

I have known this woman and her family for about 30 years. She is a Godly woman, and her heart is for her children. She will face this 'lion's den' with dignity and grace. She has not whined or blamed anyone for her troubles throughout this whole ordeal. In fact, when I broke down and wept earlier because I was so frustrated that I couldn't do anything to fix this for her--SHE ministered to ME. She used scripture to encourage me and build me up--and SHE is the one going through this!

I know that God has a plan in this--and I know that He only wants the best for this family. I also know that His ways and thoughts are higher than mine, and that He sees the big picture, where I only see my freind's crisis.

Thank you for your time, and for your prayers.

Another Prayer Request

August 23, 2012

I have been really busy lately, hence the lack of posting. I have a lot of things to catch up on, especially in the realm of blessings that God has given, but for today, I want to focus on a much more important matter.

A few weeks back, I posted about a family in which the children had been molested by their father, and that he was trying to get them for unsupervised visits. I requested prayer for them, especially the two boys under 18 who are still in the home.

About two weeks ago, the mother defied a court order to hand over the boys, and instead took them out of state on a vacation to visit family. When she was contacted by the police by phone, she explained why she was not obeying the court order, and she had her attorney send them the documents that backed her statements.

She has been informed that when she and the boys arrive back home on August 25th, this Saturday, she will be arrested and the boys will probably go to their abuser.

This mother has done everything she can to protect her sons, and now she is facing criminal charges. She disobeyed the court order on the advisement of both her attorney and the family’s doctor, who has stated that these boys will be in severe danger, both physically and emotionally if they are with their father.

I feel helpless about this situation at times, until I recall that I serve a living, powerful, omnipotent GOD Who is well able to intervene in this time of crisis for this family.

That is why I am sending out yet another call for prayer for this family. I am rallying the troops for spiritual warfare on behalf of two innocent boys.

The mother is willing to go to jail for her son’s sakes, so for her I request prayer that she will handle this with dignity and grace, and that she will be protected while she is in jail.

For the boys, I ask that you pray for their protection from this evil. The older boy has the option of saying he wants no contact with his father, but the younger boy hasn’t yet reached the age of decision. The older boy has to decide if he will stay away or go with his younger brother to try and protect him. NO CHILD needs to be placed in that type of internal battle.

I pray for wisdom from the officers, the judges and attorneys. I pray that the criminal investigation into the abuse will go forward and that the boys will be kept from further harm.

I pray for the father, that he will be convicted of this evil, and that he will repent and turn to God for forgiveness.

I pray that the entire family will be healed from this tragedy, and that they will carry no scars from it.

Above all, I pray that God will be glorified by whatever the outcome will be.

Please pass this request on to your church, prayer group, anyone who may be willing to lift up petitions to heaven for this family.

Thank you all for your time.

Another Book Delay--God Is Workin' On Me--I Make A Public COmmitment

August 9, 2012

Once again, there is a delay with the book....{{{{GROAN}}}}

It's really not that big a thing--my laptop just started goin' wonky, so it had to go into the shop for a tuneup, and I'll pick it back up on Saturday.

I am amazed at how God is really workin' me over lately. Patience is a big item that He has been whackin' me over the head with. You can SAY you are patient all ya want, folks, but real patience is not simply waitin'. EVERYBODY waits at some point--it's a fact of life. PATIENCE involves havin' a good attitude WHILE you wait. In other words, you don't fuss, whine or fume while you are waitin' in line at a fast food joint, or on hold with an operator. You simply wait, and breathe and just, well, wait.

And pride--oh BOY, is He dealin' with my pride.

Like, right now, we had been waitin' to get the damage to our truck fixed from that cow jumpin' out in front of the redneck late one night (and no--we still have no idea where the cow went after he hit it!. Finally, we got the truck into the shop for repair, and the company gave us a nice rental truck to use until ours is done. I mean--it's a REALLY NICE TRUCK. Black, fully loaded, ALL the bells and whistles, and insurance is payin' for it for the two weeks we are supposed to have it.

The BAD news is....

Only Brian can drive it. Yup, it's a one driver policy thingy with the rental company. Sooo....if I need to go anywhere for the next two weeks that doesn't require simple walkin'--I either have to get him to take me, borrow a car from the inlaws, or arrange to have a friend come and get me.

This shouldn't be a big deal, but for me---

it really is.

I am so independent that the very fact that I can't drive the thing makes me think of places I NEED to go, even though up until I found I couldn't drive it--I could have cared LESS about goin' to those places.

Yeah--I think it's a pride thing. Okay, yeah--it's my pride.

I have always been that way, with an "I don't need anyone else to help me out" kinda mindset. When Brian finally got up to the mountains with us after two years, I had an older man say that I must really be glad to have a man supportin' me again.

You have no idea how hard it was for me not to go ballistic on the dude.

I quietly explained that I had NEVER needed a man to support me, and I never would.

Well, it's true--I don't need a man to support me. However, I am findin' that God allows me to be humbled in ways like with this truck, so that I will lay aside my pride and ALLOW my husband to support and lead me.

Oh, you have no idea how much typin' that hurt.

So, I have been prayin' about this submission thing, and I have come to a decision that I will submit to my husband's authority, not as an experiment, but as a lifestyle.

Oh--now typin' that REALLY HURT.

So there, I have said it--I have made a commitment out loud, to the bloggin' community that I will live a submissive, surrendered life.

Aw heck--I'm chokin' here.

I will ask that ya'll pray for me, because you KNOW I am gonna be fightin' this like a drunk pig on a leash in a dark alley (yes, I'm speakin' from experience--don't ask).

Well, I got chores. Later Ya'll.

Book Problem Fixed--Wall Of Wonder Part 8

August 1, 2012

HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!!!!! Pardon me while I do a few handsprings, folks!

The reason I’m so giddy this fine day is that I have FINALLY figured out how to fix a problem with my book! I was havin’ a heck of a time puttin’ the drawin’s in with the text, and every time I tried to save the work I had done—it would always disappear the next time I opened the file.

But today, campers—I figured out how to keep the drawin’s where they belonged, and now I can finish settin’ up the book’s layout, and hopefully get the sample printed next week.

You just have no IDEA how frustratin’ this has been. Carrot juice for everyone!

Okay—I’m done.

Once again, we move into the realm of gadgets that line my Wall Of Wonder, by praisin’ the Bread Machine. I received my first one over 20 years ago when Obie was little. I had been droolin’ over them for a long time, and I was given one for a Christmas gift. It lasted around 11 years, when it finally wagged its little mixin’ flipper around a few times and died one day. It was given a bizarre ‘funeral’, when my husband and his buddy took it out on a shootin’ range and blew it full of holes. Ah well—it still served a purpose by bein’ used to site in a new pistol or two. After that it went to a recyclin’ plant, so it may still be out there somewhere, fused into a new product, helpin’ to make another person’s life easier.

(Okay….is it just me, or was that a bit creepy…?)

My current machine has been with me for about 11 years now, and it is still goin’’ strong, crankin’ out tasty loaves of bread. It has both a whole wheat and white cycles, and a one hour cycle, along with a dough settin’. I seldom use the dough settin’, as I feel it’s easier to make pizza dough either by hand, with a processor, or my big KITCHENAIDE mixer and dough hook. Also, if I’m not usin’ the bread machine—it’s because it’s winter and I use the regular oven to make no knead breads. By usin’ the regular oven, I can help keep the house warm in cold temps, which cuts down on other heatin’ methods.

However, in the heat of summer—the LAST thing I wanna use is my oven, since I wanna avoid raisin’ the temperature in the house, thereby causin’ the air conditioner to work harder to cool that same air.

So I use my little bread machine. I also love that by usin’ the machine, I can serve fresh bread to my family each meal, and I KNOW what’s in it. If we want toast for breakfast—I pop the fixin’s into the machine after supper and turn it on. By the next day, bread has appeared and is cooled perfectly for slicin’. Last night, I put in the ingredients for CINCO DE MAYO bread (from the cookbook ELECTRIC BREAD, by Innovative Cooking Enterprises—a great little bread machine book), and plopped a container of homemade pinto beans that I had in the freezer into my trusty crockpot. I turned the crock to medium, and when I got up this mornin’, I already had our lunch meal covered with very little work on my part. We can now handle some big chores that take a lot of time, and yet we will be able to sit down to a good meal at lunchtime.

At holidays, my family likes Two Bread Dressing, and I can whip up a couple of loaves in the machine for bread cubes, then I add crumbled corn bread that has been baked in my electric roaster.

I make loaves of bread to cut into cubes that are then baked in huge batches with seasonin’s and butter for homemade croutons. We also like the denser texture of the bread for makin’ French Toast—it’s not as soggy as regular bread. BTW—ever make French Toast by puttin’ the dipped bread into a WAFFLE IRON? Really easy, and you get those great little pockets to put your syrup in!

Don’t toss out dried up bread—grind it up in your food processor (if you don’t have one—try gratin’ it up with a simple box grater),, and put the crumbs into a container in your freezer. You can always use the crumbs in meatloaf, or as a breadin’ for fryin’.

There are all kinds of bread machine cook books out there now, unlike when I first began usin’ them. Find a simple basic book, I like BREAD MACHINES FOR DUMMIES, and start makin’ bread. If you mess up some loaves—and you will—toss ‘em on the compost pile (you STILL don’t have one?!?!?!), or feed ‘em to your dogs, chickens or pigs. Even my horses enjoy a crust or two as a treat. Then go on to your next attempt. After a while you will be able to create your own recipes, and even to convert a few of your favorite regular recipes.

As small as my family is—my machine saves me a lot of time, energy and money, and as I stated before—I KNOW what’s in the loaves I make, so there are health benefits too.

Well, I got chores. Later ya’ll.
