Book Review In The Early Mornin'

December 11, 2011

It's early mornin', and while the rest of the household slumbers in their beds, I am wide awake. I thought I'd take the time to get some online work done.

So here I sit, wrapped snugly in a blanket, as I write a review of another of John L. Hoh Jr's books, IMMANUEL! GOD IS STILL WITH US! A Look At How Scripture Shows Us An Ever Present God.

I like this book because it provides scriptural evidence that God didn't just 'whip up' creation, toss it out there in the great wide universe, then sit back and as the Bette Midler song says, "watch us from a distance".

Instead, Hoh's book puts forth the statement that;

"When we realize God has deliberately created us and formed us, when we realize that He does provide for us and presrve us, we then realize that we are in the best care anywhere. For what craftsman does not take care of his product?"

I dunno about ya'll, but to be considered a product of a Master Craftsman, not just a random bit of DNA, makes me feel treasured. After all, everyone admires fine workmanship, with its loving attention to detail.

Howevr, with a human craftsman, once the creation of a product is completed, it is often sold off to others, and while the creator may stand by and watch in horror as his product is neglected, abused or even destroyed--OUR Creator keeps His hand firmly in our lives, no matter what happens, no matter even if we turn away from His love and care. He does allow us the free choice to be our own abuser, and in some cases, our own bringer of destruction.

But understand the following statement, with absolutely NO room for doubt--

He.

Is.

With.

Us.

Got that?

Good.

Hoh's book uses Scripture to show that Immanuel has been within our lives from the creation of the world and each person in it, His presence throughout history, His role in the provision of Salvation, and how He is with us throughout our own daily lives--even when He seems absent during our greatest trials.

I recommend this book as a good resource. It reads well, and the common sense arguments interwoven with scripture help to put forth and clarify many points that even I hadn't thought of in my studies. As one review puts it, this book is not an evangelism piece, but instead a fiath booster for the believer.

You can order this book through Amazon.

Well, I got chores. Later ya'll.
